Our Vision

Through mission we and others are transformed by the Holy Spirit into the image of Jesus Christ.

Mission is the outward demonstration of a life inspired by the Great Commandment and motivated by the Great Commission.

Our vision is to empower and equip our mission partners and the members of First Presbyterian Church to be Christ’s witnesses both locally and globally. (Acts 1:8)

Core Values
We Believe . . . .

. . . the church is God's Primary Agent of Transformation: socially, spiritually, economically, and emotionally.

. . . that every member is a missionary, called to be an agent of transformation within their community and world.

. . . in being a connectional church; empowering and equipping PCUSA missions that reflect the heart of First Presbyterian Evanston.

. . .in Evangelism AND Social Action, and are biased toward those ministries and missions efforts where the two values are integrated.

. . . in efforts that create Christian presence and witness in places and among peoples where there is no gospel witness or church community in its context (including among peoples who are culturally distant, but geographically near).

. . . in the equipping and empowerment of Indigenous Leaders within their own country, whenever possible.

. . . in the Cultural Diversity of God's Kingdom,

. . . we have a strategic position as a facilitator of partnerships between organizations and other mission-minded churches around issues that affect transformation.

. . .in the biblical imperative to serve the poor and disenfranchised.

. . .we are called to take risks and make sacrifices, acknowledging the terms of costly discipleship.

Strategic Focus
Spiritual Transformation: Ministries within the Muslim world.

Social Transformation: Ministries of empowerment among women and children and the equipping of indigenous leadership.

Physical Transformation: Ministries of Education and Prevention regarding AIDS.
