Tenth of Ramadan Middle East Outreach - Egypt

Presbyterians have a long and rich heritage of being the first protestant denomination in Egypt. The first Egyptian Presbyterian Church was organized in 1860. Today the Presbyterian Church is the largest denomination among the half million evangelicals in Egypt. Egypt is important because it has the strongest Christian presence in the Middle East. The Synod of the Nile has begun a multi-year effort to start and construct churches in the satellite cities that are being built around Cairo, Alexandria, and the Suez Canal. Several of these churches will be the only Christian witness in a city of 100,000 or even 200,000 people. One of the newest projects includes a church constructed in the city Tenth of Ramadan, which First Pres now supports.
