This clinic is a ministry of
the Ethiopian Evangelical Church, Mekaneyesus (EECMY) and the
Presbyterian Church USA, which provides primary health care services
to the individuals and families of seven rural villages in southwest
Ethiopia. Funds for the Gatcheb clinic support clinic operations
as well as medical training for birth attendants and health assistants
at the hospital. It is estimated that there is one doctor for
every 60,000 Ethiopians. So, this clinic is strategic in its efforts
to provide both preventative and some curative medicine. It is
of interest to note that First Pres Evanston Mission Director
Caryl Weinberg formerly served here for three years.
