Weekly Bible Studies

In the midst of our busy lives, it is important to be intentional in finding ways during the week to connect with God through the study of His Word and through fellowship with His people.

At First Pres, we offer a variety of weekly study opportunities to help you deepen your faith and discover spiritual friendships. There is contact information listed below, or you can contact Melody Vogel at ext. 218 to find out more about any of these ministries.

Moms R Us: Mondays from 9:30-11:15 a.m. in Room 213. Moms R Us is a caring group of mothers who reach out to the church and community through weekly fellowship, prayer, support and Bible study. This group will be using a variety of curriculum, as well as special speakers, to engage the spiritual needs of mothers and children. Childcare is provided at $5/per child or $9/per family. Contact April Hedman for more information.

Open Door Bible Study: Tuesdays from 9:15 a.m. -11:00 a.m. in the Parlor. Open Door is available to women of all ages who are looking for a place to be encouraged in deeper study of the Bible. It will resume on February 9th with a study from the New Testament. For more information, contact Pat Verbeck at 847-869-2914.

Thursday Evening Women’s Bible Study: Thursdays from 5:45-7:00 p.m. in Room 206. This class is a combination of lecture and discussion for women who are seeking fellowship and meaningful study of the Bible. Please contact Barbara Holm at 847-328-0049 for details.

In the Loop Bible Study: Fridays at noon. In the Loop is a group that meets at One N. LaSalle, Suite, 600, in the offices of Mauck & Baker (brown bag lunch). If you’re looking for an interactive study of scripture among a diverse community of believers, then join this Loop community every Friday for lunch and discussion.

Men’s Prayer Breakfast: Saturdays from 8:00-9:00 a.m. in the Dining Room. This Prayer Breakfast is a group of men who get together for a very informal hour of coffee and doughnuts, fruit and friendship, prayer and praise. You will see and hear outstanding Christian examples of success and failure, trial and blessing seeking and finding. All men are welcome to attend.

Knitting & Prayer Ministry: First Fridays and third Saturdays from 12:00-2:00pm in Room 206. This unique community knits prayer shawls or scarves for those in need at our church and elsewhere. All levels of experience are welcome. Feel free to bring a sack lunch! Call the church office at 847-864-1472 for more information.
