Prayer

We are a family of faith that reflects our trust in God through the ministry of prayer, conversing with God and standing in the gap on behalf of people for whom God cares. Sometimes prayer is hands-on, sometimes from a distance. Our staff also meets for a time of prayer every Tuesday morning. If you would like to be prayed for during this time, you can fill out a card in one of the pews and leave it in the offering plate, or you can contact Nancy Wicklund at ext. 225.

Healing Services: Throughout the year, our church joins together in prayer to ask for wholeness for all who are sick, facing discouragement, needing prayers for oneself or for friends and family members. All are welcome to join praying members of First Pres in Walker Chapel at 5:00 p.m. There is a time of singing, biblical teaching, anointing with oil and prayers offered to the Lord Jesus our Healer for all who are in need. Dates for the 2010 Healing Services are: July 11, August 15 and September 18.

Prayer Companions: During the benediction, members and visitors are encouraged to come forward to receive prayer from one of our Prayer Companions. These lay ministers are gifted and equipped to bear the burdens of others in prayer. Whether you're in a time of need, rejoicing, or would like to pray the prayer that begins your life as a follower of Jesus Christ, we encourage you to experience this ministry of prayer. Prayer Companions can be found in front of the Chancel and in the back of the Sanctuary after each service. Simply look for a gold badge.

Prayer Chain: If you have a need that you would like prayer for, there is a 48 member prayer chain that will pray for you. These people are trained in intercessory ministry and committed to strict confidentiality and pastoral sensitivity. All prayer requests are welcome. If you would like to contact the prayer chain, please call Peggie Robinson at 847-328-5088 or send your request via email.

Mission Prayer Meeting: On the first Monday of each month, those who are interested in praying for the missionaries and sister churches of First Pres meet at various homes around the Evanston-Northshore area. This time is facilitated by Ron Ehresman of the Mission Ministry Team. Fellowship and snacks at 6:30 p.m, Prayer at 7:00 p.m. To find out more, please contact Nancy Wicklund at ext. 225.
