Jeff & Christi Boyd, Central Africa

As the PCUSA Central Africa Liaison, Jeff sits with our Presbyterian partners in Cameroon, Equatorial Guinea, and the Democratic Republic of Congo. He visits project sites for particular consultations and ensures moments are spent together in celebration of our common faith. By listening to our partners' hopes, concerns and ministries he helps the PCUSA discern how to engage in a meaningful way with our sisters and brothers in these countries. Jeff also provides support to mission personnel serving in the region and is a resource person for PCUSA presbyteries and congregations as they consider their mission engagement in Central Africa. An educator by profession, Jeff keeps a particular focus on the educational work of our regional partners.

Christi is the Joining Hands Companionship Facilitator in Cameroon. Joining Hands (JH) is a new initiative of the PCUSA under the auspices of the Presbyterian Hunger Program. Christi works with the JH partner network, RELUFA, an ecumenical network of Cameroonian non-profit organizations, grassroots groups and churches that seeks strategic solutions to systemic problems of hunger and poverty in Cameroon. She accompanies network members to some of the most isolated places and visits with people who struggle for the basic necessities of life. These closer walks often reveal connections between the comforts of Western societies and the difficulties faced by the poor in the South. JH provides a platform for these untold stories to be heard. Christi facilitates companionships of solidarity between RELUFA and covenanting churches in Chicago and the Twin Cities Area. Their joint action includes the network's micro-finance program "Credit Against Poverty", and the "Publish What You Pay" campaign to fight corruption in the Extractive Industries.
