Friends in Christ

Jesus told us in John 13:34-35, "...as I have loved you, so you are to love one another. If there is this love among you, then all will know that you are my disciples.

Friends in Christ

This ministry provides practical support to folks in our church family who are going through a difficult time. Our volunteers cook and deliver meals, run errands, drive people to appointments, walk the dog--all sorts of useful care to help smooth out the occasional rough road.

We also train and support weekly visitors to about 40 people from our church who are homebound due to age, illness or disability.

Friends in Christ holds no regular meetings, but members meet for potluck suppers, Bible studies, and educational programs about six times a year. We are all ages, men and women, who believe that service to our brothers and sisters is an important part of our walk with Christ. We love what we do, and we are enriched and blessed as we care for others.

What Would Jesus Drive:
We don't know, but we think he would carpool!  Let us know if you can give an occasional ride to someone's doctor's or physical therapy appointment, etc., or to church on sunday morning.  Call the church office for details, (847) 864-1472.

Sometimes Food is Love:
Friends in Christ volunteers prepare and deliver simple suppers to people in our church who are recovering from serious illness. Please help us with an occasional homemade meal. It doesn't have to be fancy, just cooked with love. Call the church office for details 847-864-1472.

Visitor Training:
Friends in Christ visitors are an important part of our church's Pastoral Care Ministry. They maintain the connection between our homebound members and our church community--often they are the first to know when someone would like a special pastoral visit, has been hospitalized, or is going through a difficult time. They bring welcome news of church events, bulletins or tapes of church services, and reassurance that the person they visit is still an important part of our church family.
