Prayer

We are a family of faith that reflects our trust in God through the ministry of prayer, conversing with God and standing in the gap on behalf of people for whom God cares. Sometimes prayer is hands-on, sometimes from a distance. Elizabeth Jones is the coordinator of our prayer ministries.

Prayer Companions
During the benediction, members and visitor are encouraged to come forward to receive prayer from one of our Prayer Companions. These lay ministers are gifted and equipped to bear the burdens of others in prayer. Whether you're in a time of need, rejoicing, or would like to pray the prayer that begins your life as a follower of Jesus Christ, we encourage you to experience this ministry of prayer. Prayer Companions can be found in front of the Chancel and in the back of the Sanctuary after each service. Simply look for a gold badge.

Prayer Chains
We have two prayer chain ministries of 20 people. Both take emergency requests by phone, e-mail, and pew prayer cards. These people are trained in intercessory ministry and committed to strict confidentiality and pastoral sensitivity. All prayer requests are welcome.

Mission Prayer Meeting
On the first Monday of each month, those who are interested in praying for the missionaries and sister church's of FPCE meet at the Mission House, 8909 Forestview (just west of McCormick). This time is facilitated by Ron Ehresman of the Mission Ministry Team. Fellowship and snacks at 6:30 p.m, Prayer at 7:00 p.m.

Other Praying Groups
Groups of members gather to support various concerns and crises in the church and community. Community Groups and covenant groups pray for members and causes during their meetings.

Prayer Works
This then is how you should pray: Our Father, in heaven, hallowed be your name, your kingdom come, your will be done, on earth as it is in heaven. Give us this day our daily bread, forgive us our debts as we forgive or debtors, and lead us not into temptation, but delivers us from evil, for thine is the kingdom and the glory and the power forever. Amen.
